Ultra Stick 10cc glow power question
Good Evening. I purchased an Ultra Stick 10cc (NIB) at my LHS recently, but found that it is intended for a gasoline engine, rather than glow. I have been unable to find any 10cc gasoline engines for sale. Even Hangar 9 no longer sells them (Evolution). Has anyone tried to use a glow engine on this particular model? I figure since the advertised flying weight is about 7 lbs, it would require a .61 size 2-stroke, or .91 size 4-stroke, glow engine. Any thoughts about using a glow engine here would be appreciated.
Thanks, Harry Sanchez [email protected] |
I've got an OS 65 (2 stroke) on mine and it flies awesome! I did end up mounting the rudder/elevator servos in the tail to get the CG where I wanted it. I would recommend placing the servos up front first, then moving as needed.

Check out Valley View R/C for a 10cc gas engine. They are great people to work with.

I have that plane too. I also had the old Hangar 9 Ultra Stick .60. The new one is just a bit smaller, between the sizes of the old .40 and .60 size. I thought the old plane was adequately powered with a Magnum .61, better with a Super Tiger G90. I haven't assembled the new stick yet, but I'd expect an OS .65 to be plenty.

Mine currently looks a little different.. See Attached photo.
But, when I get done with setting up the DC-3, I'm going back to a single engine. I'm planning to put either the Saito 100 FA on the nose - I had the 91 on a previous "stick" model and it was GREAT. Or, I may jump into something gas like the Saito FG-14C gas 4-stroke. |

My own experience with the rear exhaust version of the 10, was a big disappointment. |
