Default dead eng. landing

Hi,

The standard recommendation, if you have enough elevation, give full down elevator and at about 20 feet give full up elevator. All gyros react differently and require different tactics. I've had gyros that don't react to the elevator with a dead engine. Some just sort of windmill down and you have very little control. I usually practiced dead stick landings but with the engine at idle and plenty of altitude. Try getting the nose down and get a feel for how quickly the gyro reacts when you give full up elevator. This will help you when you really have to do a dead stick.

Hope that helps.

Phil
