Slow Gyro
I have been working on a Electric Gyro that can be built from the GWS Slow Stick.
$29.95 from the local Hobby Town.
As can be seen in the pictures it has a 6x 20 blue foam wing for stability. Using Jim Baxters delta head and blades. Stock motor with 3 cell 1070 LiPoly battery.
With a little pre spin ROG in 5' or less. Very stable and predicible. Landing a piece of cake.
Flight times are much shorter that with the Slow Stick,s wing but lots more fun with a rotor.

Jim (The King of Slow)
Great job Jim. I always new you were more than just a pretty face.
I know others are thinking this but what happens if you remove the wingy thing.....? and will it fly without the rotor installed.
Still no pic's of the Bee yet but I'm working on it.

RE: Slow Gyro
Rick,
Your so kind..
I will try it with smaller wing but still I need it like the Whistler for some stability. I did glue the plylon to the wing so this is a little permenet.
I do have 2 Slow sticks so will make another wing and see if it will fly.

RE: Slow Gyro
Rick,
I made a wing the same size as I am using with the rotor blades and flew it. It was a Rocket ship, not a slow flyer. Then I cut 20Sq. in off the wing with the rotor blades and that did not make much different. Flew just fine.
Then I cut the rotor off the wing and did some taxi test. No wind . now I need to tilt the rotor but still think I have to come up with kind of a stabilizer, like the Whistler.
What do you think.

RE: Slow Gyro
The Rotor Diameter is 32". 3 16" blades. Not sure what it weigts. Maybe 16 oz.
Angle is somewhere between 8 and 12 degrees. Lots of drag and the 3 cell liPoly batt. will not last as long as it does on the Slow Stick.
BUt fun none the less.

RE: Slow Gyro
Hi,
Thanks for the prompt reply. Is your head a standard Jim Baxter one with standard blades or are your blades lighter ? if so what are they made of? Bill
