Transmitter/Reciever Charging
Gents,
I have 4 airplanes that my twin brother and I fly regularly. 2 are gas, 2 are nitro.
we both have a significant amount of money invested in the gas airplanes so i'm concerned about making sure that our batteries are charged correctly.
This is what we have
4- 4.8V Hibbico Hydramax 2000mah Nimh Batteries for ignition and RX on small airplanes
2-6.0VHibbico Hydramax 2000mah Nimh batteries for rx on big gas planes
2-9.6V 600mah NiCd;s in our futaba transmitters
I have 2 newer wall wart chargers that came with our futaba 2.4 ghz radios
and 2 older wall wart chargers for some old FM transmitters.
I also purchased a Duratrax 245 quick charger recently so i could charge the planes at the field(capable of charging at .8amp 1.5amps 3.0amps and 5amps-then trickle charges after the peak is detected)
Right now I have a analog Hibbico 4.8 and 9.6V expanded scale voltmeter that i'm thinking about replacing with a digital one so I can monitor the 6v packs.
Can I quick charge these packs safely? Do Ineed to discharge them all the way? Should Ileave them on the wall wart for a couple days every once in a while? Should Ibuy a cycler? Do the batteries need to be form charged?
Any advice on how to charge use check and maintain these batteries would be great. Idont want to loose my beautiful planes because I quick charged them too much.
Cheers
