Red's Battery Tester down & dirty, take 2
OK, maybe I tried to re-invent the wheel a little too much last time by using the resistor. I invested about $3 for the #44 bulb and the holder at RS. Then I soldered some solid wire to the leads, pointing out of the "bottom" of the lamp holder, inserted them in the banana block and came up with this...
Cheap, Easy, Convenient and not time consuming at all and fits well with my life philosophy... "The lazy guy finds the easy way."
You can also just use the lamp assembly, without the VOM, as a quick tester since, as Red says, the bulb dims as the battery drains. Don't think I would do that as a pre-flight check though.
Anyone see any holes in this one?
Thanks again Red for all the info you passed along on your battery page!!
