i am using two nimh batteries 4500 mah each, in a 1/3 scale cap. it has 8 jr 8711 servo (400 ou/in torque a piece). the receiver is a jr R922x powersafe. do you believe these batteries will be ok, or should i use life a123 batteries instead?

I would not be using NIMH batteries, I would be using A123 for sure...... or at the very least LifePo4

You can use NiMH with that. @aerobatizkid, the diffrence between lipo and nickel metal is very small. He should be able to use NiMH fine.

While I'm not a fan of Nimh, and don't use them. In this case since they're probably sub C size, not AA, I'm sure they'll be fine.
Having said that, I'm A123's all the way[8D]

it ended up being 1050 minutes (17 .5 hours), based on using the hitec x4 charger at .4 amp rate

You cannot check capacity directly- in most batteries except life voltage can indicate this. What did the charger display as mah when finished charging? Or you could try discharging at a constant ampage until LVC- time x amp =mah used

10mins (1/6th) x constant amp draw = capacity used.

hi, the airplane had maidened yesterday, flight was under 10 minutes. the two batteries are 4500 mah each, 6 volt. i did recharge them, and it required total of 900 mah to say"charge full". so i assume the one flight consumed under 1000 mah. would you say this is safe to say?

quite a few folks use the 50% rule, do 3 or 4 flights, recharge the battery packs, find out what the charger put back into the pack, then divide that number by the number of flights, to get an average of mAh used during each flight (you used 900 for the one fliight!) then if the do indeed average about 900mAh per flight, and you have about 9000mAh in the two packs, then use about 50% of that before re-charging, about 5 flights (Or 4500mAh) in your case!

Craig.
