Time on the water
Currently i have a 800mah battery on my rc boat, that gives me about 5-6 min of time on the water, with this in mind how long can i expect to get out of a 5000mah battery on the water.

I decided, not to go for LiPo, as they seem to be more complicated, this is my first boat so it’s a load of trial and errors at the moment. Any other good advice you can give would be gratefully received.

What's the output of the wall charger, ?300ma?
If so 5000/300 is about 17hrs. Inefficiencies due to heat etc I would give it almost 24hrs.

5000/200= 25hrs. Considering inefficiencies and such a low input I would guess more like 30hrs. You want the battery to be warm (not hot!). If possible you could start the charge at lunch on day one and then on day two keep monitoring the temperature around dinner time!

I found that my nimh's didn't like being over charged. Once the battery gets warm stop the charge. I have since gone to life packs for those reasons but found that charging on a peak detection charger at say 1/5 C so the charge stops once the battery is charged helped my nimh last longer.
