Default Turnigy Lipo Bunker-Lipoly Safety Charge Box(Thoughts Appreciated?]

Turnigy Lipo Bunker-Lipoly Safety Charge Box(Thoughts Appreciated?] <hr size="1" style="color:#c5ccd3; background-color:#c5ccd3" />
Hello Everyone,
The debate on safe lipo care will rage on & on..and at the end of the day following the basic safety advice as to be number one! but I just came across this product from Turnigy the Turnigy Lipo Bunker - Lipoly Safety Charge Box just wondered what folks thought about this box and it`s pro`s & cons?I am well aware of the many folk who sware by ammo boxes and Brinks boxes and so on.But for us in Europe where these things are not always easy to lay our hands on it would be very helpful for any input on this product.

Many thanks In advance

Regards Steve

you can get many ammo boxes from army surplus stores. Last one i seen was at the recycle centre. I been thinking about getting the turnigy box but only if i had spare money in the paypal account. I just keep mine in a small lockable money box and charge on loose on the bench.

On this side of the "pond" many users find that Target stores (and the like) sell a portable fire proof (~2500 degrees) document safe for around $20 (on sale). This makes a great place to store or charge lipos.

I use a Pyrex bread/casserole dish. $2 at a garage sale.

Just keep it under 490°C (914°F)

Hello from this side of the pond.

I do not wish to get involved in weather safe`s are good or not, this ground as being covered in great detail.the only observation I would make and one which comes up time and again is the fact that safes are designed to keep out fire not keep it in!just a thought.
I thought the Turnigy product might be an interesting alternative?

Best wishes Steve

I see where you coming from, If my mtb bike didn't bleed me dry i would invest in the box. Has been on my list a while now. I trust my charger enough not too make it an urgent purchase, but you can't be too complacent.

I use an old cooker! It's designed to keep hot stuff in and a wooden work top on top acts as a bench. A bag of sand on the top grill (in the event of a fire it burns the plastic dowsing fire with sand). I guess I could even plug the cooker in and connect the extractor fan!! Cheap second hand broken ovens are free on up take!!

I've looked at these previously and still not bought one. Here's my thoughts - not very large, you almost need one per battery. No proof of just how fireproof it actually is - would it really contain a battery fire? Feedback on the HK website seems to infer that it has very sharp edges, so more work needed to rectify that. Lastly, not particularly cheap for what they are. As others have said, investigate ammo boxes from surplus stores - got to be better value!

Hello Gtarling,
Yes I would have to agree these lipo boxes don`t seem to cut it for me.I like the stone outdoor charging areas,so may go for that,do not fancy the ammo box approach

all the best Steve

I appreciate I'm a little late on this thread, but my company has a new product coming out soon you may be interested in. Some important issues I think are to have some mechanism to ensure the fire doesn't spread, have a high enough melting point so the container can contain, and have venting holes to stop explosion. You can check this solution out, based on a food heating tray.. LiPo safe
