OK to let batteries freeze in winter storage?
Is it OK to let NiCad or NiMh receiver batteries freeze. I have stored planes in an unheated unattached garage over the winter and temps in winter can get below zero. I'm not sure if it gets that cold in the garage, but certainly below freezing. They are always at normal temp when I charge them in spring and I have done this for a few years and there doesn't seem to be any effect. Also I have always stored them fully charged. What do you guys think? What about other typs of batteries?

Don't freeze Lipos, Lion or life batteries. They won't take extreme heat or cold. Not sure about NiMh or NiCad My guess is the cold won't harm them but not sure what it does about lifespan for them. I have solar path lights with NiMh and NiCad and they've gone through many winters and still work fine.
