Ignition battery
I am installing a DLE-55 engine on a new plane and I want to know what size ignition
battery, what MAH should I use? I guess I want a 4.8v battery without using any kind of
regulator, I just don't know how much power the ignition will draw. Thanks, Aframe2

I have used in the past 1400ma NiCad and never worried about recharge on a day at the field. My last 4.8 was a 2000ma NIMH light weight and never had to recharge during a full day of flying. JMO anything above a 1000 and not really any reason to go over 2000 ma.

Depends on whether you have the new ignition or the old one. The new ones are stamped for up to 8.4 v so you can use a life or lipo without a regulator. 2000mah would be plenty for an avg day of flying. The new ign units run great on 6v the engine runs much smoother.

Why use old battery technology and long charge times? Get an 1100MA A123 pack and fly 7 or 8 flights with ease. My DA170 ignition only uses a 100ma or so in four long flights and it's a twin. Any of the Li batteries will work well.

I use an A123 2300mah for both ign and Rx. I get mine from here, http://www.fromeco.org/ , and have them put two of my (Futaba) plugs on it. I generally fly 5 times two days before recharging.
