First generation Triton charger and lipo balancing questions.....
I have a first generation Triton charger that only came with the heat sensing option. How do I go about balancing a 1300 millamp 3 cell lipo?
The battery has a balancing plug with a receiver for a four pin plug.
Thanks in advance.

It is not recommended that you use a NiMh/NiCd to charge LiPo packs. Each LiPo cell needs to be balanced or there is a potential for damage to the battery and yourself. A budget friendly iMax B6AC type charger would be a good choice for your charging needs, or any 50 ~ 80 watt four button type will do. Just make sure the charger is for LiPo use and has balancing ports, along with a "storage charge" mode to put the LiPo cells at a safe capacity level for long term battery storage.

The Triton 1'st generation charges LiPo and LiOn packs . I used it as my first charger for years before the "4-button" chargers came out. What you need is the Equinox Balance unit. This set-up will work fine for you.

Comes with 2 and 3 cell adapter cables for XH style connectors .
If you need 4 or 5 cell adapters:

Of course if you have TP or Polyquest plugs you will need to adapt those over to XH plugs as well.

I have used the Tritton for a long long time now, Jan of 2008. Has to have paid for itself by now. I have gone through (4) other chargers and this one keeps on chugging along.
Yes it needs an adapter to do the balancing of the lipos, but it is a good charger.
Buzz.

I have a Triton2 from a long time ago. I'm purchasing a E-Revo Brushless and some Lipo packs. Can I use my old charger for the time being or do I need to go ahead and get a modern charger right away. Will the above balancer get me started or just forget it and buy a charger?

After more research I'm reading these car/truck batteries are recommended to not go lower than 3.5 volts per cell. The balancer says it discharges to 3.0v per cell. Which I'm reading will void warranties. Is the 3.0v setting adjustable? If not it's not going to work for me :-(
