Default Over heating a lipo battery?

I have a 3s lipo I used for my RC plane and was using it on my car that recommends only a 2s lipo... it got really hot and burnt a small hole in the battery wrapper. Is this common or should I stop using 3s on my car? I know I can use them just not full throttle all the time coz it will over heat.

and is it safe to recharge the lipo that burnt a hole in the wrapper?

that battery is not good now... you potential have a bomb...you need to disposed of it asap... and not just put it in the garbage... you need to reduce the voltage to 0.

Don't keep it anywhere inside your house mate, it's a serious potential fire hazard!

Begs the question 'if the Car called for the use of a 2S Battery, then why was a 3S used?

So worry about you. Because you asked this kind of common question like“ and is it safe to recharge the lipo that burnt a hole in the wrapper? ”
Lipo question is a very serious question!!! Just take the others' advices. Do not take the risk.
