I don't know that I've seen NiMh vent like that. Of course, I only ever used/made packs without the shrink wrap. Maybe explain a bit what you were using the pack in? I haven't seen, or used Intellect 4600's since 2008 or so. I only got a good two years (maybe) out of those cells. I'd say your pack is past its prime.
Maybe it is time to jump up to LiPo batteries? If you got an older speed control(s) without a low voltage cutoff setting; charger that won't balance LiPo batteries, and don't want to spend any more money than you have to...just buy some new NiMh packs.
