I will add my thanks, again it would be nice to move this toward the top somehow, it took me an hour to find it, even knowing it was here somewhere. Rich

For what it's worth I have a DVM that goes only up to 400 Mills and then the fuse blows, but if I change the setting to the 10 amp setting it works but registers miliamps but being digital it is still a usable reading, showing in 100th's of an amp which is really milliamps.

Bump

Great info for those with the popular Accu-Cycle charger. I just purchased 2 new larger sized NiMH batteries, and have charged\discharged them 2x now with one reading considerably higher than the other for the discharge amount. After reading this thread it will be interesting to see where my chargers are at, and re-cycle the batteries again and see where they come out now ...

Thanks, Greg

I looked and haven't seen the answer to this question. Does the Accu-cycle Elite require the same attention? Never owned the previous model, so I have nothing to compare with. Posts like this are a reason why RCU is an invaluable tool to the modeler. Thanks.

Great info, I'm going to run my 2 accu cycles thru the test.

I wonder if the Triton 2 has the same adjustment.

Well, I calibrated my 4 cyclers last night, and they were all over the place. Anywhere from 243 to 277. All 4 are now set at 250, very easy, great info\thread..... Thanks, Greg

I have ordered a multi- meter that will go up to 250 mah. I have three accru cycles, one purchased new and two picked up a swap meets. I plan to set them all. One of mine when set to charge at 125 mah. will charge a little bit and both the green light and the red discharge light will come on and draw the batt. down to zero. I only use it to trickle charge now. Anyone have a idear what causes this? Wayne

Can this be done with the Accu Cycle ELITE as well?

A point to remember: The $5 Harbor Freight DVM is not the epitome of precision, the fact that is has a digital display does not guarantee that. If one checks a number of such quality meters against each other, different readings will usually appear. Accurate, calibrated meters cost lots more.
Therefore, the results of your careful calibration is only as good as your DVM. It does, however, give you a standard for future performance checks.

Excellent posts and I'm glad that someone brought it back up. I will try this on my charger this weekend.

Thanks

you are spot on with your instructions to calibrate the Hobbico Accu-Cycle Pro!

I followed your instructions and discovered that the discharge circuit on the RX side of the Accu-Cycle charger was calibrated at 280mv discharge rate, not the quoted 250mv. Before re-calibrating, the Accu-Cycle reported that an RX pack I tested had 714Mah capacity available. After re-calibrating the Accu-Cycle to the correct 250mv, the same RX pack tested had 1114Mah capacity.

The TX side discharge circuit of the Accu-Cycle tested at 247mv. Not terrible but, after re-calibration the discharge circuit is now 249.9mv. Close enough!
