Default RE: Who makes the best batteries ?

Whelp.. your stock pack weighs about 3.4oz, a 5 cell 1100AA nicad weighs 4.6oz, and would be about the bare minimum... if a little more capacity and weight is ok, then the 1650AA NiMH or the 1500AUL Nicad would do quite nicely. I belive the big Funtanna reviewed here on RCU was flying a 700AA 5 cell pack.. same size and within a few 10ths of an ounce as the 1100AA.

Hope this helps!

Default RE: Who makes the best batteries ?

The question should be what are the best batteries not "who" makes the best batteries.

Here are "Big Mike's" picks:

in SC catagory:

#1) GP 3300 -nimh
#2) KAN 3000 -nimh
#3) Sanyo = CP2400SCR -Nicad tie with Sanyo HR2600SC -NIMH

4/5SC (or 2/3SC)
#1) GP 2100 (when it finally gets here) -nimh
#2) KAN 2000 - nimh
#3) CP 1700 SCR Nicad

1/2SC
#1) CP1300SCR -- simply a great little SC. -Nicad.

in 2/3A

#1) GP1100 -numh
#2) KAN1050 -- soon 1150 -nimh
#3) HE-Cell -- many cells at this level -nimh

in 4/5A

#1) Sanyo Faup 1950 -- but is a little thicker -nimh
#2) Sanyo Faup 1700 -- True A diameter -nimh
#3) KAN 1800 4/5A -nimh

yes I know the new GP2000 will most likely be #1 but still not available to most yet.

in A size:

#1) KAN 2100A -nimh
#2) KR1400AE -nicad
#3) KR1700AU -nicad

2/3AAA:
1) KAN 350 nimh
2) GP 400 nimh

AAA:
not sure?

2/3AA:

1) KAN 2/3A 650 -nimh

AA:
Kan 1300 NIMH

all these pick are my voltage under load picks. that is these are the cells that will provide most watts under 10C load versus other similar batteries out there.

We have tested a lot of batteries and from my view point there are 3 choices, GP, Sanyo, and KAN at the moment. I know Panasonic and a couple others but they just do not seem to match GP.

for those that want all the weight and height, price info you can get them from my website @ www.cheapbatterypacks.com

Thanks,

Mike

Frederm

Thanks for the valuable info you gave, but we are concerned about battery packs and not just batteries.

Hangtime, thanks posting the Sanyo date code chart!

Just want to confirm something. I have some old cells I’ve needed to recycle for a Loooong time with letters that come latter in the alphabet.

I assume that year date codes with Z on down will just go back from 1996?

example
W = 1992
X = 1993
Y = 1994
Z = 1995

Roger that, Hammer.. Sanyo's codes 'rolled over' in 1996 at the top of the alphabet again.

For the rest of you folks following this thread, Red posted a comparitive analysis Monday in the User Product Reviews section.
