Default help with 8 cell battery pack

I need help ..I have an old 8 cell pack with 2000mah batteries in it. I started charging it on an astro flight charger on slow charge. The amps are set at 0.05 amps and the battery had 11.18 volts when it first started charging. It has been charging for 3:38 hours and 1.673 amp hours. It has risen to 11.91 volts. How high should the volts go up so i will know it is still a good pack? The batteiries are about 5 years old and have never been used. Thanks a lot..

Robert..

50 milliamps charging a 2000 maH battery is close to a trickle charge.

Set the charge current to 200 milliamps, which gives a c/10 charge (overnight) and charge for 15 hours or so.

Then discharge the battery under load and record the pack capacity.

You may need to do this several times.

If the pack doesn't produce at least 1600 maH, get another one.

Put the old cells in your cordless drill.

If you put 1.673 Ah into the pack in 3.38 hrs the charge rate was set at

0.50Ah not 0.05Ah. Be careful if you set it to 0.2Ah (making sure it's not set to 2.0Ah)

for 15hrs.

Thanks Dick. My charger does not discharge, so that is why i asked if 11.91 volts is good enough for a good battery. My charger said it charged for almost 4 hours and peaked at 11.91 volts set on .05 amps. Thanks..
