I was not aware of any JR Triton and have never heard of a Triton II. Are we talking about the popular red Triton charger?

The Triton Jr looks quite familiar, like a swallow advance. I do not have a pic of one and there seems to be 3 or more chargers in that range of power 1-14 cells and a 5 amp limit and a 50-63 watt limit.

The other one (which I jokingly called Triton SR) is the Triton ZX and is $200 or so. Sorry, no info on it.

The original still seems to be the better deal. I wonder who makes it?

I was wondering about the actual manufacturer. Made in Tiawan I think. I wonder who makes all 3 of them?

Triton II has the blue backlight and the rate is now 7 amps. This seems to be the difference from the original.

Triton JR has 63 watts, 14 cell max, non settable trickle, non settable peak detection, non settable peak delay, only 1 memory spot, non-settable time-out feature.

Triton ZX (port 1) seems to be very similar to the triton II , but with a 10 amp, 160 watts, multi color backlit 8x 21 display, pc interface, higher voltage limit, 5 amps discharge, (port 2) looks like the triton JR with an 8 cel limit and 3S limit, and 20 watts and no discharge. Both may have graphing and pc interface.

Is the open votage check disableable ? (it's ok, I invented that word)

If anyone has any info I would appreciate it.

When you mentinon port 1 and port 2 does this mean there is finally another lead acid capable dual charger besides the 977?

I think that the port 1 is the only one that does pb batts. Port 2 seems very limited and I am wondering if you add the 20 watts to the 160 or it is 160 total?

So does that mean the new Triton is a dual charger?

EDIT: Nevermind, found it, answer is yes.

EDIT AGAIN: Wonder why the second port is so stripped of features compared to the first. I was going to say that this would de-throne the Brain as my favorite, but maybe not.

Every fully featured 2 port charger under $300, the 2nd port is severly limited. Until you get into the higher end Shulz line, the 2nd port is not that useful overall. The other aspect of these dual ports chargers (not all) is that it can only display 1 pack charging at a time. I owned the Shulz 6-330D. When charging the 2nd battery, it was charging but you had no readouts.

My favorite multiport charger is still the Apha 4. It is just very limited these days to the batteries we use.

Accu-cycle elite both charge outputs function
with the display, you switch which output you
want to read data from. Mean while the other
carries on. Its a good charger for radio use
plus other. Its $135

Same for the Super Brain 977, and it can do lead acid on either port also. The only thing port B can't do is discharge. And its $95.99 at Tower.

I think the 977 is in the same class power wise, but not feature and adjustability wise.

I think the elite is in the same class feature wise, but not even close power wise.

wise, wisdom. duh, lol [:-]

Triton ZX, 4 years in the making and it's still not out yet. By the time it gets to market it is already outclassed. I'm glad I don't pre-order.

If you are serious about any sort of charging and want a high powered 200 watts - dual output charger, check out the BC8DX or BC8DP at rcaccessory.com. Dependable and cheaper than a Schulze charger.
