Default ?? re: ESC

I am just getting into electrics and was wonderring if I would have any problems using a 30 amp rated esc in place of a 20 amp recommended esc for my speed 400 motor? I have an Ascent park glider with 6oo ma/h 7 cell nicad? I realise this esc is slightly heavier and larger than needed but do not feel like purchasing another one rated at 20 if I don't need to.

Your 30 amp control will work fine. You won't stress it very much in this application.

Default ?? re: ESC

Extra current capacity won't hurt anything. I have several 30amp ESC's that give me the option to move up to a larger brush motor without needing to buy another ESC. The best reason for sizing the ESC to the motor is to save space and weight (besides matching to the motor). When weight become critical for small aircraft then ESC selection becomes more important. I haven't gotten into weighing the grams to get that last second of flight time as yet.
