where ( inside or ouside) do you charge your LiPo batteries?
with all the warnings regarding fire or explosion hazard with LiPo batteries, I was wondering where does everyone charge them? Do you put them outside the house? Inside a cement block, or metal container? Wher is a safe recommended place to do the charging?

I charge in my kitchen on my freezer. I sometimes use a lipo sack. My kitchen has spinklers so I not really worried however I never leave them on charge if I am not close by.

I'd get a LiPo sack. I should get one myself. Be best to charge in the garage or something. When I charge LiPos, Our garage is not connected to our house, so we gotta walk there. So I just charge in an area where I'm usually watching it.
Since we're on the subject of LiPo charging, do LiPo balancer connectors have a safety cut-off? I'm using one, and needed to know if these balancers watch for overcharge?

I charge inside the home, inside a liposack, and either on the washing machine or on the dryer, whichever doesn't have something on it at the time. The tops of the washing machine and dryer have become my charging station for everything. The metal makes a really good heatsink for cooling packs off after a hard days work.

If your balancer is an "inline" or "active" charge balancer which charges and monitors each cell individually then I would say it has overcharge protection. However, if your balancer is something like the "blinky" which is a passive balancer then no it doesn't have overcharge protection. Some small packs from electrifly have a protection circuit within the connector which disconnects the charge current, but this is the only incidence of this I know of. For most of the packs the balance connector itself is just a connector with no active balance mechanism in place.

wjbender;
I charge them in my shop, converted garage on a ceramic tile table top inside a ceramic flower pot with the base used as a lid. Works very well, even for large batteries, cheep, $5.95. ENJOY

Well, my cell balancer is from electrifly. And it also freaked out and shut down because the cells were too high voltage. That may also tell me this balancer has overcharge protection.
