Default "Hybrio" rechargeable consumer cells for transmitters?

I wanted to ask, has anyone tried using these new 'hybrio' NIMH(?) rechargeables in the transmitters and do they live up to what they say? In transmitters I am always using Alkaline AA's since they don't significantly self-discharge over time. When I was using ordinary consumer NIMH I was having to recharge those every 3-7 months or more even if the transmitter was not used.

I ask b'cos I got a few today and I tested them on a constant-current discharger and they were able to sustain a 5A discharge above 1V for >1000mAH fully charged, which is way more than I can say for the other consumer cells I have tested. But do they really live up to the low self-discharge thing like the packaging claims?
