Whats a good discharge rate when cycling batts??
I was out of this for almost three months and can't remember what is a good discharge rate when cycling batteries. I have two 8.4v 3000 nimh batteries for my emaxx and want to bring them back to life. I use the MRC 989 charger. I know for charging you go by 10% of the nimh's...(3000=3 amps) Thanks for your help.

I often discharge my batteries using the C rate, e.g. a 2000 mAh battery is discharged at 2000 mA. Any battery used for R/C should be able to handle a C discharge current with no ill effects.

What's the max safe rate on a small alkaline? "9 volt" battery ?
and What's a safe max rate on a rechargeable nimh "9 volt" battery?

The rate that you discharge a battery at depends on why you are doing it. If it is just to discharge it down to a certain level, any rate that does not raise its internal temperature more than 10/20 degrees above ambient is okay. If it is to measure the mah in it and compare to the factory specs then; you discharage at 0.2C down to 0.9 volts/cell for NiMh and NiCad.

Here's the "why" to my question.
I made an adapter for my new phone system for battery backup. I figured rather than keep an old non corless phone in a box I woulf just keep this adapter instead to power the base and then all my new cordless phones will work fine.
I have a set-up with a "9 volt" plug set up with 8 AA cells , but wondered if a regular or rechargeable 9 volt would be ok to discharge at a 30 minute rate.
