Default Thunder AC6 smart charger

Does anyone have any experience with this charger?

Default RE: Thunder AC6 smart charger

I just got mine in the mail yesterday from XHeli.com. I charged one 6S 2600mAh pack with it in balance mode at 1C and it worked fine. I have not tried fast charge yet. It looks well made and the readout is very bright. I used it in the AC power mode which is going to be very handy for me.

When I peeled the protective cover off the faceplate I thought the faceplate marking decal was going to come off with it, but it didn't. Other than that the unit looks very well made.

I was able to find my way through the menus without too much effort. I have used Triton chargers before and the menus are similar. I have not used the USB interface yet.

It comes with a nice assortment of connector adapters. The main output connector has a Dean's Ultra style male plug at the end and you can plug your LiPo directly into that or you can plug in other adapters that already have female Dean's on one end. This is the way I use my other chargers and it makes all my adapters universal (they all have a female Dean's on one end).

If I run into any problems I'll let you know.

And now the bad news. The maximum circuit power for this charger is 50 watts so the max charge current for a 6S LiPo is 2.3 amps. Don't expect to be able to fast charge a 3000 mAh 6S LiPo with this. There is no fan either and the unit gets fairly warm.

I too am considering this charger. At what rate will it charge 4 cell 3000 to 5000 mah lipos?
I'd like to charge at 1C

50 Watts divided by 14.8 volts = 3378mA. So, it will do the 3000 at 1C OK but the 5000 would be charged at about 3.4A (0.67C).

Cool ,Thanks. Now if they would just get them back in stock. If they don't I'll order the DC only
version and get the optional AC adapter.

Wow I got mine from Hoobypartz on tuesday morn. I was checking the same sites everyday, I guess I just got lucky, they must not have restocked with a huge amount of units if they are out of stock already, they must be selling like crazy...

Oh I thought they might be the same company, all the sites do look kinda similar, I went with Hobbypartz because they had the cheapest shipping. Well sorry you couldn't find one, there's always the T6 model, but then again it is nice to have to option to plug Ac6 into an outlet.
