Lipo Lifepo or A123?
Forgive me if this is a noob question but... What are the pros and cons of each type of battery and what are the main differances? I use Lipo for all my flying and car/truck applications now but is there a better alterntive? I want to get longer run times and better life from my batteries so whats the best bang for the buck? I just dabble in car/truck stuff I mainly fly fixed wing and EDFs.

I am trying A123 and these batteries appear to charge fast and last longer on flights. I have flown my yak 54 50cc DL for about 45 minutes total and the batteries dropped from 6.5 to 6.3. I have yet to recharge the batteries.

I bought from these guys for my Extreme flight yak. Bought the charger as well and did the mod to the charge jack going to the receiver so I can balance charge right thru the switch. Also bought the voltwatch and it works great. I did two 2300 and can fly 10 , 15 minute flights and only use half capacity. They weigh a little more then lipo but you don't need a regulator and it weighs something. Charge it at 8 amps (as long as you don't go thru switches) and leave it for a month and not lose any charge. No fires either. What you will hear is how you can't check them with a load tester. The voltwatch works really well for that and after a few flights you charge and keep track how much you put back into the pack. Once you figure out how much your using per flight then you have how many flights you can make. The voltwatch also shows low voltage spikes as well as any loss of signal for 2.4.

RE: Lipo Lifepo or A123?
Thanks Mike. You said it better than I could. The batteries cost are comparable to the others on the market and the only higher
cost was the charger for the A123.
Marine Three
cost was the charger for the A123.
