Default 38 hours to charge a battery?

ok i know i should be peak charging a battery but...

i have been having trouble lately with my batteries not holding a charge so i have decided to charge them as slow as i can to help them a bit.

i bought a slow charger with a low current rate. 100mah.

the battery i currently have on charge is a 3800nimh 8 cell (9.6v) stick pack. now am i being silly saying that its simple maths to work out 3800/100 = 38?

i read somewhere that its 3800 x 1.4 / 100.. this would mean over 50 hours!!! that cant be right o im going for the 38 hours to stop my battery being fried. any ideas guys?

At 100 ma it should take around 72 hrs imop. I'd leave it on for 100+ hrs if possible since 100 ma will never hurt a 3800 mah pack.

Guver is correct, it will take at least 53 or more hours to fully charge your battery at the rate you said you are using. You are correct in doing this slow charge instead of a fast charge, especially on a new battery or one that has been dormant for a week or more. Your batteries will always last longer (more charge/discharge cycles) if you use slow charge rather than a fast charger. While fast chargers (peak detecting types) are very convenient, they are not the kindest way to treat your batteries if you want the most performance/time for the dollar.
