Default Battery charge cost

Hi all

Anyone ever worked out how much it costs to recharge a 5000 lipo?

Just wondering if its a few cents/ pence or dollars/euro each time you charge?

Also does price change when you fast charge or slow charge?

Hope someone can help

Henry

If you have to ask "how much", you probably can't afford it.

To be more specific, I would guess less than a penny (USD) unless you generate your own power with a diesel generator.

Then it'll be a bit more.

that was a loaded answer..this may help
You can calculate how much electricity an appliance uses by following this formula (using the example of a 50-watt radio "on" for 100 hours a month):

1. Check the wattage. (50 watts)
2. Multiply wattage by the number of hours appliance is used for a given period of time.(50 X 100=5,000)
3. Divide by 1,000 to get your answer in kilowatt-hours.
4. (5,000/ 1,000= 5kwh) Then, to compute the monthly cost of operating the appliance, simply multiply the number of kilowatt-hours by the current electric rate (C.B.E.C, it's 6.928 cents per kilowatt-hour).(5 X .06928=.35)

It costs only 35 cents to operate a 50-watt radio for 100 hours each month!

Your kw hour rate may be more than listed so just substitute your rate instead of the 6.98 in the above formula

If you figure 7ΒΆ per kilowatt hour, and you plug into a 120 v outlet that would be 8A for an hour costs you that 7ΒΆ. It doesn't matter the battery's rating but instead how much the charger draws. It wouldn't be 8A, more like 1A for a wall-wart, so 8 hours would get you back to that 7ΒΆ. Leave it on 24 hours: 21ΒΆ

Now, if you go for big electrics with 6000mAh LiPos rapid charging you're probably sucking WAY more voltage. But again, it depends what the charger draws and for how long. They're probably only 50 or 60% efficient to the charge leads.

So about .7 euros to charge a 3 cell 5000 100 times...Or around .007 euros per charge.
Thats a 1 hour charge cycle.@ 1 c rate so yes it costs more to charge faster .

The speed of charge will not change the cost,Its about the energy not the peak power.
The energy of a 3cell 5000 is: 1h*5A*11.1v=55.5Wh or 0.055 kwh
