cofused on batteries and charging
I have become really confused.I am using a Hobbico Elite charger.I have a 6v 2700mah NiMH A size battery pack .I am wanting to do the overnite c10 rate. How do i set my charge rate? Do i set it on .27amps (or actually it doesn't have .27- nearest i believe is .24 amps... 2700 mah would be same as .27 amps??Am i correct?
thx,dave |
RE: cofused on batteries and charging
2700mah is 2.7 amps. Charging at c/10 would be .27 amps. Charge for 12-15 hours.

RE: cofused on batteries and charging
.24A or 240 MA will be just fine. It really isn't at all critical.

RE: cofused on batteries and charging
Check the battery often for heat as I find over charging nimh hurt them the worse. Once it gets warm to the touch take it off the charger.
12 hours of charge is if the battery has been discharged all the way. |
RE: cofused on batteries and charging
The reason for charging at 0.1C (or anything close to that) is to keep the heat from becoming a problem. If charging at that low a rate, no worry. Sure, the lower capacity cells will be fully charged first and will have a small rise in temperature but, there is probably still cells not fully charged. That is why you continue that charge for 16 hours to insure that ALL cells get a full charge without damage to the one which were fully charged first. You will not damage the cells even if you leave them on that low charge (0.1C) for 24 hours.

I still need help with this.....
6 Volt 5 cell 2700 MAH NIMH. How would you set up your Accu Elite to charge this battery? Run me through all the steps....and how long should it take? I am getting a full charge in 15 minutes and have a hard time believing that! Thanks-in-advance! |
