Slow Stick battery ?

Slow Stick battery ? I have 3 and half hours of flight time on a slow stick. I really like it. My question is it has a size 300 stock electric in it . Is a 8.4 volt battery to tough on the motor , I read somewhere that it shouldnt have more than 7.2 volt . I have a 300 esc in it. Thanks Larry

I run my 300 Slow Stick at 8.4 volts and the first motor lasted about 50 hours. The second is at about 20 hours so far.

Motor life is also dependent on how hard you fly them. I fly rather sedately. The SS is not the best acrobatic plaform. :)

Go Lipo...
I run a 1500 mah 2cell Kokam lipo at 7.4 volts and fly nearly whole lunch hour on a charge..
It's got enough to even haul my Nikon Coolpix 3700 around for some neat aerial recon.

Fun Stuff...

I fly my slo stik with a 9.6V NiMh. Haven't had a motor problem yet.... but full throttle is very rare....

Can you use the 2/3A batteries in the SS?

I fly my speed 300 powered SS (6.6:1 gearing, 11x8 prop) with a 7 cell pack of 2/3A Nimh's. Around 18 minutes of cruise time on that pack.

Whare do you mount the battery. I tried my 7 cell 2/3a pack from my rc18t and could not get the plane to balance. The battery would have to be cenered between the front landing gear to balance. I finley gave up and bought a 1500mah 2 cell and it balances perfect with the battery between the motor and landing gear.

My battery is shaped like the picture below (taken from CBP's site) minus one cell.

It hangs just behind the landing gear. Speed control is behind the motor and the servos, Hitec 55's, are between the wing pylons.
