Default Landing gear question Tower arf trainer 40

Im almost done with the trainer but the main gear dosnt look right.
Th egear is spread out wide, the tires are tilted in at the top and to me the plane sits too low.

The rear of the plane is much lower than the front.

Is this ok?

Thanks Jimmy

Jimmy.. just bend the gear to make it straighter and more in line so that it looks straight. Just grab the gear legs and carefully bend them till they line up ok. This is pretty typical of a lot of ARF's. Not a big deal.. it just takes a little bending to straighten them out. Just keep them so that the nose is just slightly higher than the tail... not a lot just slightly.

Make sure when you bend the landing gear that you take it off the plane. Otherwise, you may break out the landing gear mounting block. Ask me how I know that.

Yea I was wondring if Id rip the bottom up by bending the gear on the plane.

Thanks again, great forum!

When I get some knowledge I can help new guy's too!

If you need to know about old Marshall guitar amps, ask away.

The landing gear onthe trainer 40 ARF is eally weak. I replaced mine with a good set of aluminum gear I got from a buddy. I got tired of always straightening the gear every time I flew.

On the landing gear and wing angle of attack... In my opinion I would have the wing bottom level at rest., assuming the horiz stab is at the same angle as the wing, usually 0 degress. . WIth a slightly high nose the plane will will have a tendency to litt off before it has enough flying speed. Again.. Just my opinion.

Ok. Playing devils advocate here because if I had to remove the landing gear to straighten it every time, I'd get fed up with it pretty quickly. I just carefully bend the gear without ripping it out of the fuselage. The weak main gear will bend easily on almost every landing. But it will teach you to grease your touchdowns. When you can do that regularly, you'll be so sick of the wire gear. You'll take it off and replace with something better. Wouldn't take it off for a year or so though, the wire gear absorbs a lot of rough landings. I've not had any damage from bending the gear. If you do, on a tower trainer, it probably Needed to be beefed up anyway.
