I have no idea what any original measurments are but for that airplane with a simple untapered wing if you just measure from the trailing edge to the leading edge and divide that figure by four and that sum will be the distance back from the leading edge to mark your target CG. That will be 25% Mac, if you truly balance at that point your airplane will fly very well with no surprises.

GC CAME OUT AT 3.75 BACK FROM LEADING EDGE OF WING IT BALANCED PERFECT JUST A TAD NOSE DOWN READY TO GO FLYING NOW AS SOON AS THE WEATHER GETS BETTER WILL POST HOW IT GOES WHEN I CAN GET TO THE FIELD

RE: Aeronca Champ ARF?
well went to the air field today wind blowing 5-8 straight down the run way I went with the 3-75 from the trailing edge on my gc no weigth need with a new g-23 Zenoah up front lots of power for this aeronica champ roll out was about 50 feet with a real sloppie setting on my engine all I can say(I LOVE THIS AERONICA CHAMP) loves to float and will slow down to a crawl no bad habits at all

The Rascal 110 would be another option in a sporty high wing plane for which that engine would be appropriate.
I have one with a syssa 30, and really enjoy it.
