can't make my futaba buddy box work
Hey Gang,
I have a Futaba 6EXP and a Futaba FYF Skysport. I'm trying to use the skysport as a buddy box. The facts;
Both radios hooked up
skyport shows powered, but there is not battery in it
receiver is a PCM 6 channel model (don't have the number right now) that came with it and is powered appropriately (6v)
I use the 6exp and can manipulate the servos hooked up to my rx. When I hold the trainer sw i lose control on the 6exp after a moment, but do not gain it on the skysport. Whats up?

I think you have to do this every time you switch on the master box. PITA

RE: can't make my futaba buddy box work
Thanks for the replys gang, yes I made sure the trainer function was on. I'm going to try it again following the manual instructions in order and EXACTLY as written, but I'm not very hopeful for sucess. When I looked in the manual it said it could perform trainer functions with a radio other than the 4yf skysport (4vf i think). Don't know if this is a huge deal or not. Would it matter if the skysport power sw was on?

RE: can't make my futaba buddy box work
I have used a lot of Futaba radios as buddy boxes at my field. Yes, when connected the buddy box does not need to be turned on but still shows power (it doesn't need a battery or a crystal). I have had several buddy CABLES go bad though. As a last resort, try another cable. It seems that the connectors go bad, especially the older round ones. I have also had the connector in the radio go bad once or twice.
If you buy a new cable and that DOESN'T fix the problem, sorry about that! Maybe you can get a refund, or sell it to another student.
