It looks really similar to a KR-1. It was a composite home built from back in the 1970s.

Actually the airplane in that picture looks more like a KR 2, I built a KR 2 in the late 70s and a KR 1 in the early 80s.

Bob,
I thought about that, but the canopy looked a little narrow in the drawing. That's pretty cool on your builds. If I remember correctly, those where a spruce/plywood and foam construction? My Dad and I always went to the EAA fly-in in Oshkosh from about 1981-2003. Never missed a year. We thought about the KR's and I still do because they are inexpensive, but the VW conversions kind of scared us off. I have the plans and tail kit for an RV-8, but still haven't started yet. My wife thinks the homebuilts are too dangerous so I just do models. I still get to fly my Dad's Cessna 150 though, so it's all good.

You are right, the airframe was constructed of aircraft grade spruce and aircraft grade mohogany plywood, the wings, horizontal and vertical were constructed from wood spars and then the foam was glued in and airfoil shapes were hot wired. Back then the instructions had you perform wet layups utilizing a material called dynel, but I used fiberglass cloth on my builds anyway. The turtle deck, canopy deck, and engine cowling I shaped from foam by hand much the way I still scratch build models today, I then built tools and laid up my parts. In both airplanes I built the retractable gear versions and ran Revmaster 2100 cc power plants. Those were the days my friend...
