Default Cracked engine mounting

I have a OS95AX with a front mounting point cracked. Is there a way to fix that? or will this need a new case?

Wow how'd that happen contact with terra firma? Go to a welder and see if they can braze the crack without heat damaging the engine . If not then I'd say a new block

No need to replace the case if it is just the mounting hole that is cracked.

Get a piece of 3.16th ali bar about 1/4 inch wide and drill two holes in it the same distance apart as the engine mount holes.

Now use bolts that are 3/16th longer if required and fit the engine with the bar above so as to clamp the mount to the bearer.

You could always get a backplate mount.

j.dunker nailed it!........or was it a "slam dunker". Anyway it's a good idea, and will work. Some trainer type airplanes use that method of mounting engines. The strip of bar stock will spread the load over the remaining area of the engine mounting lip.

A new case for a .95AX is a 109 bucks so a little effort at alternative repairs may be called for. Another method I have used in past successfully if you do not want to be limited to pinch type engine mounts is to fabricate two light gage steel sheets in the shape of the mounting lug, Measure and pre drill the two holes then bond the steel sheets one on top and one on the bottom of the mount lug with JB Weld

After cure clean the holes with a drill of the pressed out JB. This works well depending upon how much of a lug is missing around the bolt hole.

I know some guys that would try CA.... serious.... stop laughing, use Duncker's idea. There are some MK brand and other's that use the clamp method for the whole engine.

You can drill a new hole next to the cracked one. The engine wont know.

C A ........Citric acid will certainly keep the engine from getting the rickets.

Not for a mounting lug, but I bought a second-hand ST 2300 that had the carb CA'd in - the guy must have lost the drawbar and nut. Couldn't get it out for months of use. Eventually the fuel ate the CA away and it came loose.
Wow,

Careful. You are getting close to the guy that mounted all the servos in a 2x4 stud and glued that into the fuselage.
