I'd assume that it will tax the motor a bit more at least - might as well try it since you already have it!

You would get a better response here http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/gas-engines-142/

Beginners don't usually use engines that require 23X8 props.

You arent asking beginner questions, even if you feel that you are a beginner.

If you direct your questions to the proper forums you will get more advice.

I agree with Tom that you will get more answers in the gas engine forum or the giant scale forum. That being said, the Mezj 23X8 is the ideal prop for that engine. If you feel it is too fast I would suggest throttle management. Loading down the engine to slow it down could lead to overheating.

More pitch provides more speed, right ? I can't remember. If I'm right, then a larger prop, with less pitch, may slow down the landings, and create prop to ground clearance issues.

I have plenty of prop clearance thought a 23x6 might be the go, just pulled my DL50 out as the front bearing is seeping oil out of it so I have put a new DLE55 on her fits great just had to turn the walbro carby around so the throttle and choke were on the same side, can I run the engine in the air or is it best to run on the ground first?

I run my gassers on the ground just long enough to check idle, needle settings, and proper linkage setup. After that, I fly, being careful not to stress the engine. I'll run a 22X10 on my 55. If you want a 6 pitch, you may want to go with a 24" prop.

What do you think, Speed ?

It should be, but you said that it was too fast, and wanted to slow your model down.

Tom you are pretty much on the money. I ran my DLE55 with a MTW75 canister and a Falcon 23X9 and it was a great combo. The Mezj 23X8 will be a tad more load due to thicker blades and will be about ideal on the 55. A larger dia and less pitch can slow the airplane down but will make more prop noise. The trick here is throttle management. This will require both set up of a throttle curve and pilot training.

I do have a 22x8 don't think that it will make much difference but since I have it I will give it a go . Yes true about throttle management the plane doesn't have to be flown full noise I know.

To me, that's a bit small. I'd like to keep the rev's in the +-7000 range.

ok thanx Tom, I really want to set this plane up for hovering and a little 3d making the transition from 60 size planes to to 50cc is really new to me , maybe its me just being my first flight with the bird might just need a few flights to get used to the plane,

I know very little about 3-D, but I think those guys use big props with little pitch.

Yes that's why I was a bit iffy with the Mez 23x8 maybe might have to try going up in the diameter down in the pitch as you said but might give the Mez a bit more of a trial as it was only my first flight with the plane, haven't had that much experience with 50ccHope the weather is ok this w/end so I can give it a real going over, on the maiden the wind picked right up just as I had got the plane ready to fly no way was I going to pack it all up and go home well I will see how things go this w/end.
