Hi guys, I need some help.

I used to build a lot but just getting back into after suffering a massive stroke in 2004.

I used to have some "L" shaped braces that held wing formers in place and having just 1 hand I need more. Problem is I forgot where they came from. My memory is not being kind to me and I need your help. I could also use some heavy "L" brackets/weights if anyone has a source.

Welcome back! The magnetic boatds are pretty slick (see demos at our club meetings).

I have a whole pile of the House of Balsa uprights to hold wing ribs and other pieces at right angles to the building board.

That will take some reading but it does look like something that will help me.

I'll have a friend take a picture of what I have (and is easy for me to work) in case you have seen anything like it.

It was one heck of a stroke. I spent 4 month's in the hospital and my heart stopped 3x. I lost 80+ pounds (25 that I needed to lose) and virtually all of my muscles. That is why it has taken me over 10 years to try to return to building. I can't fly now but my son will take care of that, but I really want to build again.

It looks like a great gadget but how would I hold and apple CA with only 1 hand?

It sure addresses some of the problems that I am having.

I assemble the wing dry using them and then drip CA where balsa meets balsa or spruce. It could be done one handed.




Lead weights to hoid the spars down or rubber-band "clamps"

A magnetic building board is definately the way you wanna go if you are working one handed. Here is a commercial unit I have had for nearly twenty years and does get used on some builds.

I keep threatening to buy a magnetic building board, but never seem to get around to it. I have been using the old fashioned method. I bought a piece of aluminum angle at the Lowes and cut it into 2" and 3" pieces. A weight holds it down to my building board and a wooden cloths pin holds the rib or part to the angle.
