I remember those! They were popular here because they raced midget cars at the fairgrounds for years.

Got a similar problem to you, Donny. We don't get the high humidity most places do, been thinking about getting the garage evaporative cooled. Otherwise, the heat here during summer is a disincentive to get anything done. Just can't stand the heat like I did when I was younger.

"If you can't stand the heat, then stay out of the kitchen" Arnold Schwarzenegger style may work in movies but LOL, doesn't seem to work here.

Those little Jet -X were not cars. In the old Buck Rogers movies you can clearly see the rocket ship traveling on a wire. That is where we got the idea. These things were just crazy things with V-8 engines with flames and blood shot eyes. They would not necessarily have wheels. I though there might be some small chance some of us boys could be here.
I do remember the crazy lookings cars with huge engines ,eyes and ugly critters shifting gears but none that could be used in any way.

The jetex were for airplanes but I did let just a engine loose in the stairwell at school and it went crazy wild hissing up the walls and all over the place, when it stopped I picked it up, .....That's righ!... it didn't take long for me to let it go but my hand was cooked instantly never did put that thing in a plane. it was too high tech at the time.

yea man! Hot is a understatement. I let it loose many more times but waited for it to cool which didn't take very long.

I have only seen that tool a few times, Since First seeing a nieghbor run his car, could you take a picture of it and post it here? I'd like to see if my memory of it is correct.

I wonder if the co2 capsules are still available??

I will see if I can find it; I have moved and it still may be packed. I will post it when I find it.

As FIO said, they are available in bar supplies stores. I have a wine bottle de-corker that uses them.

Sincerely, Richard

Any of you guys ever use Moki 2 cycle engines? looks like I may inherit a very dirty Moki 1.8 running condition unknown. I'm trying to determine if it will haul a 20 lbs. scale job.

People use CO2 in "airguns" and for quick filling of bicycle tires.

Hey that's what I remember, and on second thought the capsules are used on the small compressed air powered motors. Seltzer Bottle, wine bottle decorker? hmmmmm sounds like fun! my memory tells me I saw some in a liquor store.

Fifteen years ago when I did dirt bikes we had tire repair kits that used the small co2 cartridges to quick-fill the tires after a repair.

How many cartridges did it take to fill a dirt bike tire?

I see I wasn't the only one looking for a jet gun. I do remember someone showing how to pierce the capsule without the gun but cannot remember the technique. I guess one could make one useing tubing and a good spring.

Of course not the only time you need it is when you have a flat in the boonies and left it home!

Anyone got a picture of that monogram car? I think thats the one I had too.

Has anyone ever completed and flown one of these? the prettiest one I've seen was built by a guy in the philippines on clark A. Base. It was a berkrely kit. I have a mind to assemble a turbine version. Or the cutlass, I prefer the earlly version, the lines seem much cleaner to me. I have a kit of the later version but the canopy bulges all over the place.

What do you guys think ....I want some opinions. on these two birds only please. these drawings are not what I wanted to show but the one I like is the -1 f7u.

Reading back I realize the co2 car BRNR posted is not the car I had in 1959, mine was plastic and more modernly styled.

I looked up co2 cars on the net! I can tell you they are alive and doing well. the capsules sell for 0.60 cents and the race tracks are run by clubs.
check "m" out they are now high tech.
