Left So. Cal. 24 years ago. Then, once you left Anaheim it was low traffic to San Diego, still had orange groves and grazing land. 12 years ago visited San Diego Zoo, returning it was bumper to bumper from San Diego to the Los Angeles area on a Sunday afternoon. There were houses and businesses everywhere, only gap was Camp Pendleton.

After living in Ca. from 67 to 03, Santa Monica, Palm Springs, Oakland, San Rafael, Fremont and seen it go from good to bad I moved here to Gardnerville Nv. after retiring.
Would go grocery shopping at 10:PM (never married) no traffic, store employees out numbered the customers.

I live in an area where the opposite is happening. Rural depopulation. No work for the young, houses falling down, ageing population but hey, property's dead cheap as is the wine and the locals are friendly. Suits me!

We are considering selling but have no idea where to go. getting a reasonable price for my land is a pain, they want to buy cheap and sell high, I have to consider replacing what I have so the buyers will have to give me a good price or I may just stay right here.
At my age starting over (moving) isn't easy.

Donny, I would hold out until the development gets real close. When the subdivision next to your property starts to fill up they will start throwing money at you and get to whatever it takes to get the property. You may even be able to get a couple of developers in a bidding war.

What do you guys have for old engines that you have hung onto over the years? I have an old O&R .23 that no longer runs as it is missing the needle valve assembly. I also have a 1980 Super Tigre 60, Pico 60 and a 1987 Webra Speed 61. Also an Enya 35 nib and some other small Enyas that need work, a couple of .19's an .15 and I think a .35. Here are the Super Tigre 61, Webra 60, Enya 35 Pico 60 that I cleaned up and put new bearings in last winter. All are in perfect running condition.

The Ring Master has the Torpedo .19 I built it to teach the grand kids control line but they don't seem to interested. The exhaust is up and it is a challenge to adjust the needle valve but it doesn't seem to need much attention. The Cox .15 is on the new Charger. The old Cox ran many hours on the trainer I built for my son. It would run for an hour on the tank I have in the Charger,I would put it up for him go fly with a student in my Cub come back and he would still be flying it he was 10. I bought the O.K. .049 several years ago it will start but I can't keep it running so in is still brand new. The O.K. .14 I flew control line in the late 1950 and early 1960,I haven't tried to start in in years. The O&R .19 I flew control line. I could not find the O&R .23 it has a piston port with the carb. behind the cylinder. The Fox.36 I tried to use for R/C I epoxied a K&B .40 carb. on it but it didn't throttle every well. so I wired it open and flew it control line and it worked good that way.

Hey Guys!
I was at the Georgetown Texas swapmeet this weekend and couln't help thinking about you!
There was piles of older models and kits, Royal b-25 and p38, bearcat. Byron F-16 kit, and a bunch of controline planes even a green box Nobler kit. A Ringmaster, flight streak and Several others for $5 each with engines. a bit dusty but looked good enough to be cleaned up and flown, piles of old engines, I was kinda surprised by the model railrod stuff for sale. I got a small fuel tank for my ringmaster and some nice flat servos for my F-14. My favorite was plans for a 84" spad viii by Bill Effinger for $5
all together good meet, everyone seemed to be in very good spirit.

Yes Royal had a thing for big chunks of balsa. A p-51 royal kit sold at the meet. I built the B-25 and most said my wankels wouldn't fly it but it was just fine with them and it was flown a couple of times like a pattern bird. Still have the wankels and may just build another, except I have the ziroli B-25 and need a set of retracts.

My start was my Dad came home with a Ringmaster and a Baby ringmaster. He got the big kit and I got the little one. A few years later I got a Falcon 56 for My 14th birthday (Sept ). The Radio and engine was under the tree a few months later.

Only car to retain Wankel was the Mazda sports car, last the RX8, the rotary engine was discontinued in 2013. In order to keep rotor tip seals lubricated required oil injected into the fuel, with a more stringent emissions control to comply. Basically although a 4 cycle, was fuelled like a 2 cycle.
About a week ago, I registered with FAA and obtained an FAA number for my airplanes. Also filed a comment with FAA requesting exemption of CL aircraft from registration (called "tethered sUAS"). AMA states CL and FF to be exempt, but looking at the wording of the FAA Interim Ruling, does not clearly spell this out for CL. I don't know how something flown on 70 foot long lines could be considered endangering the airspace of real passenger carrying aircraft or military drones.
Don't mean to rial up fliers in US over this, but the comment period is still open, good time to post a comment before the Interim Rule becomes the Permanent Rule.

Hay G/G good for you I did the similar thing, as I have tried to read everything the FAA has posted and I am still a little confused but come spring I don't want to be grounded but my comment was regarding R/C. Also t/t my club prezz to day and he tells me he has got vary little info from the AM on what is going on if anything.
I did get my 5 back so now I am trying to figure a way to print my own decals and get max use of the sheets.
Cheers Bob T
