That was disappointing I looked through this list and looked at the Super Sportster 90/120 so when I tried to down lode the PDF I got a dialog box (this program is not repairable Local\EWH-5036-0) . It looks like an airplane I might like build. It is just the same size and weight as my Yellow Birds.
Downloaded the drawing and article just now and both downloaded fine. Sounds like a server hiccup, you might want to try again. If no luck, PM me and I can E-mail you the PDFs.

That sure is the truth. I've been retired for 25 years. Never enough time for things to do. I've been back in the hobby 1 1/2 years now. Slowly building planes. I have 3 built, one building now and only one flying so far.
That Super Sporter is a fine looking plane. I have it on my to build list. My next build will probably be the Cloud Dancer 120.

When the kids were in school I would work two jobs so the wife could stay home and take care of the kids. There was always something for her to do. Well one part time job I had for years was a evening finance manager at a large local furniture store. During the weekdays we would have a slow night so I would keep an Xacto knife and a piece of cardboard and cutout wing ribs and fuselage formers. My Ryan SC project has a taper wing with 18 ribs total for each wing plus sub ribs. Wing ribs were between 17.75 and 4 3/4" long. I cut two full sets out of 3/16" balsa a pair at a time. It took several months but it gave me something to do when it was slow. I ended up with two pretty inexpensive wing kits that way.

Downloading plans has become almost a passion for me. I keep a seperate hardfile so it wont get corrupted (hopefully)
I llke to modify, design, and build to my standards and I find many kits, especially scale kits to be too far from scale for my taste so plans affords me the basics to do my own design thing, I can modify it to suit me.
Like I have said before I am a plans downloading junkie no I am not interested in any cure.
I was on the Outerzone site yesterday doing my thing!

I went from a Trainer 40 to a super sportster 60 as my second plane and a Byron f16 was my third , the super sportster flew perfectly but at full throttle it could be a real hotrod,,,,,but landing was a no brainer.

Well in the 80's it had os77 power , rossi 81 and picco and 200 plus flights they flew so good we could nose it up in a 15 mph breeze and back the throttle and hover like a kite, one time I had a extra set of wings that were beat up and had a bet with a friend that it would fly with the wings cut down to 6 inches long, I know crazy hua , well it flew, just made a rudder turn cause the ailerons were mostly missing and a fairly hot landing. We didn't get to crazy with hanging all kinds of scale stuff all over it for weight savings, but we found at around 11.5 lbs it had good performance and vertical. We thought we were fast until BVM showed up with those little hotrods, at 160mph for a ducted fan jet we thought Bob had built the bottom line in jet aircraft,,,, and still going strong today. I have a bunch of little tricks to make the Byron f16 a rock solid flyer , most important one is DO NOT use any nyrod control linkage as the plan calls for, run the servos as close to the control horn and use 4/40 steel linkage rods and ball ends , we made 3/16 ply mounts to hold servos in the wing pockets and in rear also for elevator and rudder. I came very close to loosing the first one due to flutter in a dive, that's when all the nyrod came out..................

I have the SuperSportster 90/120 as well as the 60. The bigger one is real easy to fly and the little one is a rocket. I used The HD black outer nyrods on my big one with no issues. It has been flying since '91 and still has the original covering. I may redo it next year and put a 120AX on it. In the one picture below is the radar reading we got off of the 60 size one. The two pics of my 90/120 version are from the day of the maiden in 1991 and the other is from 2011. Oh also I modified the 60 size to use a set of Stik 40 gear and the wheel pants are from the Ultimate 60.

thanks for the suggestions, we are looking into electric and turbine so we will build with that in mind. May do one of each, time will tell.
I haven't used nyrod in years, except for throttle.

I don't do turbines but all of my birds are 1/4 or 1/3 size at this time and all weigh in at 14 to 32 lbs, not that nyrod is bad its I don't trust in that size bird even if you have then well anchored I did use them when I was flying smaller glow fueled birds ( 20 to 60 ) size when I went to Gas everything got bigger
But that is just me
Cheers Bob T

I am looking forward to this build. I've been studying the plans on my iPad. I'm going to print a copy so I can start laying it out. This build will be hand cut so it will be a challenge and also take some time. Since i got back into the hobby I've been scratch building all my models working with a printout of the plans. This lets me build to whatever size I want and also make modifications. I just have to finish my current build.
I've been studying your pictures of your Cloud Dancer build. Looking good.

What was the one that used a "Nyrod" type outer with a cable inner?

Some good news for those that are interested. I was contacted by Bluejay kits (Bridi Airplanes) and they have done another run of kits. We all thought they had closed shop. I just ordered a UFO.

You are dabbiling into different territory now for me , I have seen an electric powered Byron f16 and was very impressed with the performance but when he told me how much mula for a motor and batteries and esc, that could run the 6 inch diameter byrofan, I could run my rossi 81 and fuel for 10 years, at 25 mph slower, turbine power is cool , and the airframe will need to be beefed up as in more formers , carbon fiber , glass the wings, much more fuel. That will bring the plane up 20lbs at least and would change its character let alone the cost involved, but the power is crazy fun.

Got my Brodak Profile Oriental kit in yesterday. It is a beauty, nice premium wood, hardware, even an Oriental retro decals to go with it. 55 inches of 555 sq. inches wing area.
