How do I rescue a drone from a big tree?
Anyone got a bright idea how to save my drone, because as Ned Stark would say,Winter is coming!

O.k why would you fly near trees, water, buildings, and campers when you could barely keep control of it? As for getting it down a shotgun with 00 buck works but I guess you want it back in 1 piece so contact a tree service and they will climb up and get it for about $100-$200 Your lipo will be shot because it will be totally drained in an hour or 2 from being left on. Have you considered joining an AMA approved club to fly?

LOL Titanium, Yes you need to watch where and how you fly that thing, those quads are giving our hobby a black eye. You need to get a slingshot and shoot a beanbag with a fishing line up over a branch that will hold your weight, then pull a rope up with the fishing line(as long as your shot went over the branch and back down to the ground) then fashion a climbing rig with the rope and viola, it you don't break your neck your in business(just kidding, do not attempt as this may lead to serious injury)

Come on guys, where's the love? I think you are glad to see a quad bite the dust, some sort of revenge for all the trouble they have caused. First off, the guy can't join an AMA club to fly his quads because as he said early in the dialogue he is in "Quebec, Canada"! (can't believe that river isn't frozen) It looks like he might be in a park on the river bank so laying a chain saw on the tree is a bad idea. A tree climber from a local tree removal service is the safest and cheapest way to go. Of course, being in Canada, he might try lashing 3 hockey sticks together to knock it out of the tree. It's a joke, lighten up...just get the tree service guy.

Leave it there.
I don't think you're going to find any sympathy here. You see because of quads flying over people, around campers, into the path of airliners, etc. Everyone that flies anything else has to register with the
FAA here in the states. A step closer to making RC flying illegal.

Pulse the power occasionally until it either comes down or runs out of juice. If that doesn't work, check after windy periods to see if it fell. If you can get hold of some kind of tubing that can be connected end to end, go out on a windless day and build up a length going straight up so the joints arent' taking stress and try to nudge it.

Use a bow and arrow or crossbow [ less skill required ] to get a line over the branch. Fishing line mono filament best. Use the fishing line to pull a heavier line over. Start pulling, this has worked for me.

Its not all that high . A good extension ladder and then a long extension pole like they use for pruning and you should be able to reach it . Or set a fire ,call the fire Dept. and when they come ask if you can borrow the ladder truck .. I hope you know thats a joke ..

I had a friend get his drone stuck in a tree. (Yes it was still running.) One of our club members knew someone that did tree pruning and called 'em. I had money on something getting broken. It was an even split whether it was the plane or climber. I lost money on this one. Both were unharmed.
There is this solution. I wouldn't count on it though.

I wish I could say it wasn't so scary in real time - but that wouldn't be the case. It really was something to see. The guy wanted 20 bucks for risking his life.
Being a good American, I helped by filming and taking side bets. I feel I was absolutely invaluable in this evolution.
Cheers,

A chin saw would have solved the problem and feature problems ... The squrials and birds might get P1ssed tough ... LOL Now looking at pic 4 of4 a few loads of double ua buch about 3 feet below the quad would definitely brought it down at leas to a lower branch.
A friend of mine ounce used a weather balloon with a thin cord and some treble fish hooks snagged his plane after a number of tries but he managed to get it down with just minor damage.
