Is it still working? If it is maybe you got lucky! With my JR when I screwed up it didn't work so my answer was obvious. Two months later and $150 I had my radio back from Horizon!

RE: Futaba Charger on a Jr Radio !!!
If the battery was dead when you charged you may have just reverse charged the battery. If the battery was not dead you may have just discharged it. When you turned it on to test you may have just blown a fuse. When you turned it on you may have blown some of the electronics before the fuse went.
So many may have's, and no firm answer. Looks like you are going to have to do some checking. Also this is why it is important to RTFM before using equipment. There was a warning in there about this very thing.
BTW, before somebody rants about why did JR do it different than Futaba, JR was the first to use this style connector, also while they look similar, they are not the same size.

gitterdun - Somebody already said what to do - check the voltage. If you have an older, expendable airplane and the pack seems to check out ok, put it in that plane to make sure so you don't trash a plane you care more about. Personally, I would look at getting a new pack and think of it as cheap insurance and a learning experience.

Some JR transmitters have a fuse that blows when you use the wrong Chargers. Take the back off and follow the wires from the charge plug....hopefully you will find a blown fuse......if not send it in for repair.

Sean, no diode on the JR, thats why you can cycle the battery when it is in the radio and any peak charger that will do transmitter packs will charge it, (if you get the polarity right).
Thought it would be easier to check battery voltage as a first step rather than take the radio apart to check the fuse.

RE: Futaba Charger on a Jr Radio !!!
The same thing happened to me. I bought a jr 8103 used and used futaba leads from my quick field charger and I blew the fuse. I don't know what radio you have but if you pull the module out on mine, the fuse is visible. I was told in the radio section of this forum that all the jr radios use the same fuse - 250v 3 amp fast acting fuse. I picked up a handful at Home Depot at .97 each.

Hope your fate is different, but I fried my 421ex same way. Sent off to Horizon. Estimate $50-60 for 2 new boards. Not worth it. Bought another one used and same the one for parts. Hope your is different.

Send your radio back to Horizon with a letter relating what has happened. That gives them a starting point for trouble shooting. It's possible that you discharged your battery to a point low enough that you wiped out the basic programming. It's not supposed to happen that way, but who knows.
Sending it back to the manufacturer takes all the guess work out of it and provides you with a radio in like new condition for minimal cost and zero risk. Horizon has a really good customer service department that's not judgemental. Go with the sure thing.

Hey Mike,
After you left the radio at my house I put the battery from my JR 662 in it and the screen looked the same as it did with your battery. So Im pretty sure it's NOT the battery. Im thinkin along the line of the board inside like what was posted before. Im still sayin write it off as a loss and hopefully find another thats used for what it would cost for HOrizon to fix it for. Just my $.02

I found that my 350 dollar JR transmitter does an excellent job of protecting that 50 cent fuse. The radio blew first (JR 8103) before the fuse did, go figure...
