Default New Kid On The Block !!!!!!!!

HI!! I'm CODY,
I'm 8 years old and have been flying R/C since I was 5. I started soloing this summer. I've crashed two planes one my fault, STALLED ON LANDING and one not, wing servo came loose.

I like SOCCOR,HORSES,(we have 9) and R/C. I'm home schooled and we go out to fly almost everyday..We have 19 airplanes and three nitro trucks and two battery trucks.

If there is any kids flying R/C besides me I would like to e-mail.

My PAPA is "DESERT RATT" here on RCU.

Hi Cody,

Welcome to the R/C world! I also would like to have started R/C at your age but no one had done it when I was your age. I have been flying R/C since 1953 and built the radio as well as the plane.

It's me again,

It's cool you've been flying so long,

The plane I crashed was coming in for a landing I stalled it by putting too much up in it. I wrecked it in the front end where the fuel tank was hanging out. It was a H-9 ADVANCE. It's ready to recover now though. Now I am back to my trainer that I got from one of my friends (wesco) he'll be here soon too. He's been flying for a long time too, He taught my PAPA (desert ratt) to fly.

Thank you for answering my post!!

This is a picture of me and my papa flying when I was 6.

We'll type at you later..

The previous post with the father and son flying is one of those that is worth a thousand words. Look at the faces and see what is there. That is what RC is suppose to be about.

Well cody, to quote your generation, "Awesome!" When I started in this hobby Radio was a dream for me and way to expensive. I got started in the 70's when I was in my early 30's, but sure did fly a lot of U/C and F/F. Welcome to RCU and hope you will come around a lot.

HEY GUYS,

I know it's kind of strange that I was "SOLO WOOKIE" and now I am DESERT MOUSE because I didn't like SOLO WOOKIE My papa gave me the SOLO WOOKIE so I like DESERT MOUSE better.

GRNBRT,

This is a fun hobby that's why i'm glad i am into it.
Were you really a army man? PAPA told me to look at the initials and yours is one he told me to look at. The reason why I'm asking is because i like army men.
It is good you have been flying since your 30s and still is flying today. That is back in the 70s that's a long time ago.

Will catch you later GRNBRT.

MORNIN BOYS<

CODY didn't appreciate SOLO WOOKIE,hehehe I guess he's too young for STAR WARS. :stupid:

Thanks for taking care of him, He's my GRANDSON, I'm very fortunate to have him living with me He's the "LIGHT OF MY SOUL" and he loves to fly our toys.

ART,

I told him your username probably means "GREEN BERET". He's a soldier freek. And from one VET to another I hope he doesn't have to go through what I went through (1-1/2 year in NAM heli- doorgunner)and you probably also.

GREAT FLYING and THANKS again.

Hi Cody: Yes your Grandpop <BG> is correct. I was a Green Beret with the 5th Group, 1st Mike force, Project Delta. I was in 'Nam 66 and 67 and my MOS was 18B20 (probably different now) and that's a small arms expert (Sniper). Tell your Grandfather thanks for me as he and many like him covered our behinds while inserting or trying to get the heck out of a very hot area, he was greatly appreciated!!!!!!

I actually got into this hobby even further back, like 1953, and yes that was a very long time ago!

Art,

that would explain the "senior" community moderator title then

Seriously though, Cody, your obvious excitement with the hobby is catchy (meaning we all feel the same about flying planes ).

When you're as "old" as most of us you'll really appreciate the times you spend now flying with your grandfather.

This hobby is a hoot for everyone!

Cute Bob, real cute!!!!!! Now where did I leave Old betsy????? Bob is right Cody, enjoy these times as you will never have them again. I have a lot of good memories of flying, people I have met along the way that were very helpful in me becoming the kind of modeler that I am. You're very fortunate to have a Grandfather who cares enough to pass on to you this great hobby, learn from him and you will do all right, heck it looks like you're doing that all ready.
Oh and BTW, I am only 30 with 27 years of experience!!!!

BLUE ANGEL PILOT,

CONGRATULATIONS on your first plane, I was in my late 30s or my early 40s when I bought my first one and it was a "great day" even at my age GOOD LUCK with your new endeavor i BELIEVE YOU'LL ENJOY IT, there is nothing like that first successful landing, (well almost anyways)

ART,

NO THANKS necessary my friend, even though you were in country two years before I was I flew coverage for THE GREEN BERETS and the NAVY SEALS, I even remember EXTRACTING a few of you "SNIPER TYPES".
When you talk about playing in the "DIRT" you guys took it serious! Even though I was on the delivery end of a reworked M-60 in a SCOUT SHIP (LOACH) I got to go home to a hot meal and warm bed ? every night, no humpin the boonies for these short ugly legs.hehehe WELCOME HOME MY FRIEND!!!

RC_sport,

I had two girls, now there ain't nothing wrong with having girls, and One of em (THIS BOYS MOM) even rode dirt bikes with me, But there's nothing like a boy!! And it took my DAUGHTER to bring one to me. He's my best friend and the best "FLYING BUDDY" in the world. Though he may not always agree!! I'm kinda tough on him.. But I like his "FINGERS" right where they are.. and I'd much rather have FUTABA (oh,oh I started it now) on his cap than "COLORS" on his back.

Heh, and I thought I was one of the young ones! I started flying when I was 16 and have been flying for about 10 years. It was such a magical time building my first ARF (yeah it was an Avistar) and playing with all the cool new servos. Man, I thought those things were stronger than they looked. And the controller!! How cool was that huge chrome plated device. Looked like a nintendo gamepad on steroids. I now love to build the kits and fly with all the old farts at the field. (and yes, they do fart once in a while). Please keep us informed on your flying!
