PAM Airshow!
Today the Paducah Aeromodelers Put on our second annual fly-in!Starting at 9 with the C/L Portion and with the RC Portion starting at 10.. There were somewhere in the neighbor hood of 120 Specators and 50 or so Pilots. Each one of the PAM who wanted got a 5 minute time slot in which to fly.. Everything for the Paducah pilots went great! Thanks to all you guys for giving me some suggestions for my part.. I threw down everybit of it I could in a 5 minute time slot and as I was shutting down and refueling right infront of the spectators several came up and congratulated me! After the PAM's session the Showme Air Kings Flew several different planes. Including a 40% Staudacher, to a GIANT Sopwith Pup, To a Huge Lazy Bee, down to a snoopy Doghouse, GP GeeBee, Profiles etc etc.. They to put on a great show with only one casuality being a Heli..
All in all a great show! Pictures to come! SOON!

Sounds like you had a great time. Airshows can really be fun if you let them, some people try too hard and it's no fun. It's easiest to just be yourself, do your thing and stay relaxed. Glad it turned out good for you, now you have to get ready for next year. ENJOY !!! RED

Ice,
Sounds like eveyone had a blast, congrats
BTW...In the second set of pics, numbers 4 6 7 that is called a crazy panda. Flys very slow but cool as heck to watch. PIC number 9 is an Extreme Aircraft Cap232 (I have one in metallic Purple using a OS160 but you can go up to a DA-50 gas if you want) Fantastic plane and is almost exactly the same as the Chip Hyde CapX except for the colors

RE: PAM Airshow!
Awh my mouth started watering as soon as he opened his trailer! I'll tell you he let me ground crew for him once.. It has a DA 150cc twin and a Mejzlik 32X10 CF prop... The plane weighs close to 50 lbs.. if not 50 lbs.. (Thats what he said) and has better then 1:1 thrust ratio! I thought our 1.20 sized birds pulled! With me on one wing another guy one the other wing and the pilot holding down the tail ALL THREE of us had to dig in to hold the beast back!
I want one!

Thanks Bubba!
I never did find the owner of the Cap to ask what it was... He had a 4 banger in it maybe a 1.80?
Thanks Bubba!

Mine started life with a Roto35Vi but it was just a tad too heavy for the plane so I had a NIB OS160, Same HP, almost 1.5lbs lighter and it really woke up the plane. I have a YS1.60DZ on order that's going into the Cap. Same output as the DA-50 but again 1.5 lbs lighter and the added benift of turning the exact same props as a DA-50.
From the pics, there was a nice selection of planes there. I wasn't aware FlyingThingZ had released the flying dog house yet, but I have seen the witch and the lawnmower. There's a review that just came out here on RCU about the lawnmower.
You'll love getting into to bigger planes. They fly way smoother but they do take some getting used to as depth perception on landing changes. You'll discover that you are actually further away than you think and faster than you think. You probably already discovered that with your stick.
If you want to get used to gas and if memory serves me, yours is the 120 size stik. Contact RCIGN1 (Ralph Cunningham) He makes a Zenoah G-26 that's been converted to electronic ignition that he sells for around $400.00 and it will turn a Mejzlik 18X6 prop at close to 9000 rpm with 17Lbs or pull and the complete package weighs around 2lbs 11oz ready to fly. It's well documented here on RCU that this engine on the 120 Stik flies very well and will hover it at about 1/3 throttle and use 1/2 the fuel you are using now on glow so you can save weight by going to a smaller tank.
I have 3 of his engines, 2 G-26's and a G-62 and I use 12oz tanks on the 26's and get an easy 20 minutes at about 1/2 throttle and on the 46 I have a 14oz tank with about the same burn rate.
The 2 26's reside in a Greaty Planes Super Stearman and a Goldberg SU-26, the 62 was going into a WH Ultimate but I'm gonna stuff it into the Great Planes Matt Chapman Cap580 1/3 scale I just got

RE: PAM Airshow!
Hey bubba!
There was a HUGE selection of planes there... My photo's don't show all of the planes! I was in charge of the digicam and dad shot 2 rolls with a 35mm So maybe he shot some more!
The lawnmower is flyingthingz I beleive but the Witch and Snoopy are custom built.. Both appear to be a couple yrs old. But I could definatly be wrong!
Yes I love the bigger planes.. 40 sized are so touchy and snappy it seems... Then my 1.20 is just SO stable! I'm way more comfortable throwing it around than even a 40 sized beater because it's so stable! Next up on the list to learn are Blenders!
I thought about going with a G26 on this bird.. But since my G2300 spins a Mejzlik 18X6 at over 9k and I can fly for 22-24 minutes on 14 oz. I didnt want to spen $400 on a new gasser when I'm shelling out 600$ for a DA 50-R this winter!
Plus with the plane being under 9 lbs. its LITE!
But this winter a Wildhare Edge 540 (28%) and a DA 50-R will be my project!
I hope we get the other photo's developed today.. dadio saidhe got some good ones... We'll see!
