I think it would be way too big and heavy.

I built a similar size Herr AT-6, and flew it with a tiny little Towerpro electric motor.

No way. Check this one out for .35 power. http://www.gravesrc.com/HOUK40_HOB_P51D_20_p/houk40.htm

It would not fit in the nose of the plane at all. It is hard enough to get a 10 in the nose. Good Luck, Dave

You might be able to get them in there but the extra weight and bulk will be hard to deal with. Take a look at these.

A .15 is a slam dunk in a 1/12th scale P-51 and the engine plus a 3 oz fuel tank weighs about 8 ozs. Now, a Fox .36 Combat Special weighs 8 ozs with [of course] no muffler. The fuel bladder weighs very little, so weight-wise it is just about a dead even wash. The airframe would need some special attention but an experienced hand could pull it off, I think. I'll bet 130-140 mph with a 7x7 prop is realistic.

Iunderstand the HOB P-51 is a very "labor intensive" kit. A friend of mine built mine and said it was the most difficult he had ever done. My OS .20 R/C fits well but is tight. If you are looking for a 1/2 A kit Herr from Sig are excellent.

The HOB kit bogs down in the upper fuselage/canopy area. I put a OS .32 in mine with the forward fuselage narrowed more than stock.

An OS 15 LA will fly it nicely. Use an 8 x3 or 8x 4 to begin with. IMHO trying to put anything larger would be a mistake.

An OS 10 WILL fly it but keep it very light and be careful on launch.

If you want an easier build and a better flying model look at this. [link=http://www.mainlymodels.co.uk/Aircraft_and_Accessories-Mainly_Models_Fun/Sports_Models/c23_120/p449/Hurricane/product_info.html]Mainly Models Hurricane[/link]

The safe, run-of-the-mill approach always brings nothing better than safe, run-of-the-mill results.
