What is the most popular Trainer/Engine/Radio?

RE: What is the most popular Trainer/Engine/Radio?
The one I used at first was the Tower Trainer 40 with an OS .46 and Airtronics RD6000 radio system. I had to lay off the flying for about two years for work related issues, mainly overseas travel, and got back into it after most of the travel ended. I switched over to a NexSTAR Deluxe RTF. I switched out the radio from the standard Futaba to the Airtronics RD6000 and solo'ed with that. I eventually sold the plane and engine to someone that solo'ed with it, and he ended up selling it to someone else who is in the training process now. He should finish up as soon as it starts to warm up again.. [8D]

Sig LT-40 Kit
Futaba 6XA (not super)
Super Tigre .40 (originally had an OS LA .40 in it, but it varnished up due to poor maintenance by me)
The plane was built in '98, and I am just now learning to fly it. So far so good.

RE: What is the most popular Trainer/Engine/Radio?
Plane: RPM - Snark 20T
Type: ARF
Engine: K&B - .21 Sport
Radio: Futaba - FP-T6FG/K
--------------------------------------
-circa '87
when i was 11 years old my dad bought me this thin foam covered balsa arf plane fairly used with a fairly new K&B motor included. he also bought me the FG radio, ama, and membership to the local flying field to get started in the hobby (aka the gold box). i could never repay my dad for the things he has done to fuel my lifelong passion for aircraft. with this gem my instructor had me solo on my 3rd weekend. the plane was a bit heavy and underpowered, and the semi-symmetrical airfoil made it faster than many popular trainers at the time (Kadets & Telemasters were really common as trainers back then). maybe that's why i am typically drawn towards the wilder aircraft.

RE: What is the most popular Trainer/Engine/Radio?
I started out with a SIG LT-40, and OS 46-FX, and a JR 6102 - digital 6 channel.
I loved this plane, and still have it in the hangar and flight ready. Still like taking it out to putt around with it. Am in the process of converting it into my first camera platform.

Irvine Tutor 40
SC 46 engine,
Spectrum DX7 radio set.
was going for OS 46 AX but went for better radio instead, planning of giving heli's a try next year, so i opted to get a better radio gear now instead of upgrade later

Not the cheapest, but big, slow, easy to fly, very well made arf, dependable radio, easy to start, great running engine. I'd recommend this setupt to anyone. Experienced fliers also really enjoy this plane. I fly at 3600 ft... the 46 is plenty of power, and the ailerons offer mild aerobatics.

RE: What is the most popular Trainer/Engine/Radio?
Is the O.S. Max .65 LA engine a solid performer? I am leaning toward a Hobbistar Select as a first plane.
Seems to be a good plane with a 6 channel Futaba radio that I can grown into. Semi Symmetrical wings will keep flying from getting boring too soon I would assume.
Is this wing too much for a newbie? I would need the help of a good instructor I know, but I think it is doable!
Thanks for the support,
Steve

RE: What is the most popular Trainer/Engine/Radio?
trainer: Thunder Tiger Trainer 40 ARF
beautiful , easy to fly, hard to fix, plastic fuselage, i dont recommend it, wooden chicks engine compartment is MUCH better for trainer.
Radio: Futaba skysport 4VF - six years later. many crashes still working, stubborn radio system.
Engine: OS 46 LA, lots of dead sticks.
