Default Throttle linkage Setup

I need some suggestion on running the throttle linkage on a horizontally mounted 4-stroke (OS52) in a H9 T-34 Mentor. The throttle arm sits on the top and I am not to sure about the best way to run the linkage to the servo. [sm=50_50.gif]

D, I know there are a number of threads around here on that very subject, but, for the life of me I can't find them.
Use the search, there's sure to be a setup that can be adapted for your installation.

Would turning the carb around, so the throttle arm is on the bottom, make it better?

First off, you can remove the Carb and flip it around which will put the arm on the other side if that helps.

Here's something else that a lot of people do that may give you some ideas

I think Carrell hit the nail on the head. I was just sitting there looking at that throttle lever sitting on top and didn't even think about rotating the carb. I'll do that first and then try that U-bend or even the Dubro setup will solve this problem.

Some people mount a bellcrank on the front of the motor mount to reverse the throttle direction.

I just installed a new saito 125 into my extra....and the throttle linkage is on top as well. I use to have a cable on it, but didn't like the "play" as I want instant power when needed. I have investigated a couple different scenarios and thought about changing the carb...not needed. Long story short, go to the hobby shop and buy some of the nylon sleeve stuff. There is an outer sleeve, and then another nylon inner sleeve. Its semi flexible and is perfect for any throttle link. It was cheap, and drilling one hole later, little CA in the old one and voila. If you want a pic or two...let me know.

This might help.

Exit out of the firewall above or below the throttle arm, and then loop the throttle pushrod back to the control arm on the carb.

So far, it's worked pretty well - but I've only flown it once. (The first 2 pics are from the .72 in my SSE. The last one is a .82 going in my Tiger .60 and is still under construction.)
There are no problems with fuel lines through the firewall - in fact it allowed me to set the tank height a bit lower to match the engine position. The only (minor) quirk is that the linkage is not perfectly linear. That is that half throttle on the stick is more like 3/4 throttle. That is most certainly caused by the geometry and alignment of the linkage, but that was the only way that I could operate the throttle with the carb oriented with the needle accessible from the top of the plane. It wasn't really enough to be a major issue, but I'm going to play with a throttle curve to see if I can even it out a bit once I get the rust off from the winter hiatus and comfortable enough to take it up again.

It was also a personal challenge just to see if I could make it work cleanly. I made a few other mods to the plane simply for the challenge too. (e.g. built-up cowl, larger rudder, pull-pull rudder & elevator, etc.)
