Nothing special. Measure the amount of oil you want (FAI is 20%). So .20 times 128 oz per gallon = 25.6 ounces of oil in a gallon. Put the oil in a gallon jug. Fill it up with methanol. Shake a few seconds and you are done. I add a few drops of food coloring (any color will work) to make it easier to see. I also add a drop of Armor-All silicone (the spray that you spray on vinyl to make it shiny). This lowers the foaming of the fuel. FAI fuel is technically castor oil. I prefer to use synthetic oil because it cleans up from the plane easier.

Mixing FAI fuel is really easy. Just get a cup or some container, fill it up 4 times with pure methanol and then fill it up once with pure castor into your faviorate jug. that would be 20% oil, 80% methanol.
Smaller batches are easy also, just get a smaller measuring container

Do as YUKONFLYR said (pick any size container you like) but I prefer to measure out the oil first then do the methanol because it'll flush out whatever oil sticks to the sides of the container and give the correct quantity of oil. If you use castor then give the final mix a very good shaking to get all the castor dissolved. Once mixed it never settles out.

I like the Sig castor myself. I have frozen one container at least three times and this year it was very cloudy with particulates settling out. I put the jug in the sink in a bath of hot water twice, and all of the precipate went back into solution. I am now using fuel made with this castor and none of the fuel made has had any problems in running or having precipitate settle out. Very stable stuff....

Sig Castor is just a brand name. Another brand is "Bakers". I prefer the synthetic oil. You can mail order it from Morgan Synthetic Fuels: email:[email protected]. last time I ordered it was 24.25/gallon plus shipping.

Where do I buy methanol for making FAI fuel for my Moki 210? Is methanol the same as pure medical alcohol? I say that because I believe we are not talking rubbing alcohol like what I use to clean up my airplanes after flying... please advise and thanks...

Rubbing alcohol is isopropyl alcohol, and it won't work. If there is a drag racing track near you that would be the first place to ask since alcohol cars use methanol too.

Adding a dash of scented oil (pick your flavor) is a hoot. Guys walking around with their noses in the air or wondering what fuel that your using.
Works till the guys figure out your a practical joker.
