DX7 and other brand servos
I am just getting back into the hobby and have purchased a Spektrum DX7. I also purchased another DSM2 receiver and DS821 servos off eBay. I have alot of planes which still have Futaba servos int them. Can I use the Futaba servos with my Spektrum receiver? If so, what do I need to be concerned with when hooking it all up? Thanks!

Bighog,
Yes, you can use the Futaba servos with the receiver. The only thing you will have to worry about it the Futaba plug. It has an alignment tab on it that you will need to snip off before you plug it into your receiver. Other than that there is nothing else you need to do.

About this subject: Can you mix JR with Futaba or should one use only the same brand on a given plane? Will they move proportionally or will they have different displacements for the same transmitter input?

Plugin,
The only time that you should match brands is when there are two servos working the same controls. For instance, 2 aileron servos or 2 elevator servos. You want to use the same servos so that they are the same movement properties. Other than that there is nothing wrong with using different servos on the same plane. I do it all the time.

RE: DX7 and other brand servos
Hi,
welcome back, I just got back into rc planes after 15 to 20 years away from flying. I bought a new JR 9303 and pluged a new reciever into some of my 20 + year old futaba servos ,in a ventage plane of the same age and they work great. I did have to cut the key off them and trim a champer along the side to match up.
I was worried that the servos would have dead spots, but with my flying who would know!!!!!!!!
