Default Electronics compatibilty

You think I'd know this one by now, but...

Can I use my Futaba servos/electronics with the new Airtronics Radio/Receiver? Is it a serious modification or just snipping off the little plastic bits on the servos?

Thanks.

I trimmed off the small tab on my Futaba 3004 connector and it plugged right in to my Airtronics receiver just fine.

gaRCField,
That's all you have to do. Snip off the tab on the Futaba plugs and they will work with no problems in the Airtronics (or even JR and Hitech) radios.

Just don't insert them backwards.

Thanks. For $200 with Tower's discount, I might have to get that new 2.4ghz 8 channel radio!

I can't believe how much $$$ I've 'wasted' in the past 2 mos with the 6EX and just got a new flight pack (receiver and crystal).[&o]

Plugging in backwards will not harm anything, the servos will just not work until you reverse the plug.

The receivers for the Airtronics 2.4 radio run $79. I've reviewed a Futaba, a Jr, and an Airtronics 2.4 radio so far and hands down my favorite is the Airtronics. I just ordered 4 more receivers for it yesterday.

Thanks so much, Ken! I read part of your review, and it's obvious you like the radio. Have to run to the lab but will read the rest later.

I guess I need to think a little more about this too. I just started flying, but I also just got into pattern, and I'm frustrated that I can't do some simple mixes with the radio, as the 6EX mixes are all linear -can't get only up elevator with rudder input. I think this is pretty important for pattern, especially with the plane(s) I am flying. Of course working it out with the sticks is advantageous in learning skills, but not when I want to compete. All the 7ch guys can and have mixed this out, and I can't, even with my 6ch computer radio. I wish I knew this before I got it.
