Magnum 52 4 stroke on tower trainer 40
My grandson had a tower trainer 40 with a OS 46 on it and it flew great until a tree caught it. Broke the needle valve assy where it enters the carb. He has a Magnum 52 4s and was thinking of putting that on his new trainer (tower 40) . How will that compare to the 46 2s that he had on the other one?

The only issue you will have is with the throttle linkage. The Magnum is a bit flexable in this are in that you can rotate the carb 180 and put the arm on the othre side. You can also rotate the arm if needed. You may need to play with the balance a bit.
As to how it is going to perform, you are going to love it. You won't have the top end, but it's trainer. Use a 12 1/4 x 3 3/4 APC and it gives a great break for landing, pulls like a tractor and jumps to duty as soon as the throttle is pushed. Fuel economy will be great, and you won't have as much cleanup at the end of the day. Go for it.
I flew on on my Lanair Explorer 40 and loved it.

I concur. Took a little while to break mine in, but this is a great combo for flying a trainer. Talk about shooting touch n goes all day... It will on a tank of fuel. You won't believe the fuel economy. Check the CG out before the first flight, I remember having to move some stuff inside around to get the CG correct again, but nothing major.
