Default engine identification

so i found a kadet 40 that has never been flown and the guy wants to sell it. i asked him what size the engine is but he said the it is an os max fx and that is all that it says on. im going to go take a look at it and am wondering how to tell what size os engines are? are there stampings i should look for? thanks for the help.

Default RE: engine identification

Look under the exhaust manifold on the side of the case and you will find the displacement marking. On the opposite side of the case you find a promonent marking FX if that is what model it is.

The max name is meaningless as that has been alternately applied to all OS two stroke aero engines off and on.
