R/C Clubs and instructors in London area
Hi,
Could anyone point me in the right direction:
I am looking for R/C Club and instructors near-ish to Central London (SW1) I have heard Wordwood Scrubs is used for flying. Any clubs associated with it
Thanks
-Arun

How far are you willing to travel ? I know of several clubs on the outskirts of London e.g. Hanworth, but I wouldn't expect to find one anywhere near the centre.

between 30 min and 1 hr commute would be OK
Basically if its anywhere on the London Underground
network that would be great
Will check out Flying Fish as well - came across it when I was building a heli

Taken in paris.....
First, do you ever see bunnys on trains?
second, do i have to tell germans with dirty minds and a understanding of inuendo what a finger weg is?
and lastly, we'll have no "pongas" from the spanish, and the same from the Italians with no "farti" nothing worse than a smelly train
ok, enough of that sillyness, hows the club hunt doing. i'll have to ask my friend about his local and get back toyou about the Wordwood Scrubs site, just dont ask the big guy in chains for the plane back when it gos over the wall

Wormwood Scrubs
I used to fly there when i was a kid.
I had heard that they had stop people fly over there due some individuals loading planes up with narcotics and using bomb Bays to offload the product in HM prison.
The guy used to fly from a car paked discretly and then let the plane crash on the railway line, then he would disappear.
The police caught him eventually. I dont know if they have allowed flyers to fly there again.

Wormwood Scrubs would be ideal - the on-site high security prison adds to the charm - Any help with clubs/instructors/jail wardens associated with this site would be great
In my desperation today I went to Hamstead Heath trying to find a flat empty piece of land but found a Bank Holiday Monday carnival instead - complete with ice cream and hotdogs. NOT at ideal place for a take off!!! Maybe I chose the wrong end on the wrong day

As I said before if you can get out to Hanworth Air Park there's a club that flies there. Also an electric-only club (Hayes) at Cranford Park (M4 J3).
What model do you have ? Generally trying to fly most models on your own in a busy public area is sheer stupidity. Have you contacted any of the clubs on the BMFA site yet ? Have you joined the BMFA or have you not even bothered with that ?
Steve

I was considering an empty park (like Hampstead Heath) ONLY for my small electric Firebird XL - just as a fun day out. And even with this plane I do not plan to fly it anywhere other than a near empty flat park
As for my larger glow powered models I have absolutely no intention of flying them anywhere other than a BMFA registered and user recommended flying site. Wasn't planning on competing for the 2003 Darwin Awards
Thanks for re-posting the Hanworth Air Park suggestion. Will check it out

My old club might be a possibility although it would be a car job. http://www.ldmas.co.uk/news.php
One of the oldest clubs around. They own their flying field and clubhouse. The alternative clubhouse is the Red Lion at the bottom of the access road. Successes celebrated and commiserations offered over a pint of London Pride.
